The General Directorate of Merchant Marine of the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), announces that offers different local law firms (Panama), Recognized Organizations (ROs) and Recognized Security Organizations (RSO), an online platform to streamline the application process and issuing some technical certificates issued by the Panamanian Registry.

In this first stage, there will be four (4) certificates that are managed from this platform, which are: Bunker Convention Certificates (BCC), Passager Ship Liability (PAL), Wreck Removal Certificates (WRC) and the issuance of the Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR) for the flag, amendment and/or cancellation.

It should be noted that previously, the General Directorate of Merchant Marine of PMA, made an induction with local users, in order to explain the whole process and listen to their suggestions, to make them part of the process.

This training was conducted by the Deputy Director of Merchant Marine, Margareth Mosquera, who said the new platform, has a global reach, however, this first stage will be a local test, why, the customer opinion is important.

The Panamanian Registry, with this format change submitting requests for technical certificates, seeks to minimize the period of assessment and preparation of certificates, saving customers time.

Using this system, and not the use of token or USB device called a Personal Key Infrastructure (PKI) will be required, which would involve “No Issue” the paper certificate, but only an electronic certificate.

This electronic certificate will maintain the security measures required to ensure their validity, it should be noted that all documents issued will be valid for 30 days.

“The Panamanian Merchant Marine enters a new stage of digitizing its documents, in order to streamline processes, ensure security and provide greater convenience to customers by providing an efficient and expeditious service, serving the maritime community”, concluded Mosquera.
